My friend Jason Willaford would never explain his encaustic paintings to me. He insisted that it was about my relationship to the painting , not just his. The shape of art is changing everyday as artists engage in new ideas and technology in order to express themselves and sometimes allow the viewer to not only experience it for themselves but to actually change the art to suit their own viewpoint. I haven’t talked to Jason in a while but I bet he loves this stuff.

Radiohead has released their video for their song “House of Cards” This video uses 3d imaging (Velodyne Lidar system and Geometric Informatics scanning) to scan landscapes, interiors, and portraits. The ghostly images shake and shimmer across the screen. Radiohead is once more pushing the envelope and one wonders when the portrait will never need a model. They take it one step further by providing the code so one can design our own Radiohead video. You customize the relationship with the art.

Jonathan Harris in 2007 documented a whale hunt with the Inupiat Eskimos in Barrow, Alaska. These whale hunts have been going on for a thousand years in this village. International law allows them to take 22 whales a year. Harris and large format photographer Andrew Moore spent nine days on this journey. Harris shot 3,214 images with his digital Canon EOS. The photographs were taken at a minimum of every five minutes and when the action was fierce he shot more creating what he calls a “photographic heartbeat”. His website, thewhalehunt.com , gives the viewer many choices regarding the expositions composition. Using different constraints, the viewer can key on different aspects of the hunt like the cast, or concepts such as blood, tools, or whales and wildlife, or contexts like Barrow Alaska, the whaling camp, and/or the Artic Ocean. As Harris writes, “Each viewer will experience the whale hunt narrative differently, and not necessarily in a linear fashion, constructing his or her own understanding of the experience.” This storytelling experiment becomes a reflection of our own interests.

No longer is art something we observe and accept or deny, but now it can become one in which we deny, change, then accept

I saw the radiohead video, and i must say it was weird but i liked the way the image of the lead singer moved around. That video did remind m of the movie white noise. i think in a way i will try to apply something similar on my independent work, specially because i want my painting to be based on my favorite band, The Killers, and i will include things like giant speakers and i would like to show as if there is music playing.

I agree with Mr. Jason Willaford because it depends on your relationship with the painting. Many times in class discussions everyone has a different opinion about some painting because when they see it they feel something different to someone else. I also saw the readiohead video, ill have too agree with rodolfo c. that the video was weird but its amazing how they made the whole video 3d and the landscapes had so much color. after reading the article and then watching the video i could understand more the process of 3d, and what the video was about. i even liked the song!

i really liked Andrew Moore photography specially the one in his home page the first one because you can see a lot of publicity going on and then the people are standing and walking through and they do not even notice how much stuff is on top of them. i also like that photograph because you can stay a while looking at it and find different thing all the way you look. he also photographs things that are very normal to use and we take for granted but if we see closely and appreciate it we can see the beauty of it.

I have to agree with Dante, Andrew Moore's photographs are really good, and the photograph on his homepage is simply amazing, it reminds me of Tokyo because i've seen some pictures of tokyo and they also have this huge amount of publicity all over their buildings with neons and stuff. I really liked Andrew Moore's gallery because the pictures he took of the buildings were pretty good and it lets you appreciaate the style of the bulding.

I agree with dante because the easiest way to find art, is to find the objects that seem, common in our lives and portray it in the best way, then nothing becomes something beutiful.

I agree with all of my classmates´ previous comments. I like the way that Mr. Willaford thinks about art and the relationship with the observer and the painter.
I also loved looking through the photographs of Andrew Moore and I have to say that what I most liked about them was how colorful they were. The contrasts and the balance that they have were also what intersted me the most. There seems to be a harmony among the objects that he is shooting. The contrasts in colors, in most of the photographs, suits it all perfectly.

I have the same opinion as Dante has about Andrew Moore. I admire what Dante said in the last sentence because it helped me reflect that everything in the world is gorgeous and we should enjoy it. Mr. Moore's photography is very natural. Tara Donovan is very similar. As Diana said in one of her comments she uses simple-everyday-objects. Mr. Moore also does that but in his photography. All of Mr. Moore's pictures have a perfect location and the lighting is just right.

I like what Mr. Jason villaford says about the way people percieve a painting and the relationship of the people and the painting. Like silvia said in class we have many discussions and opinions of a painting and that has to do with how each one percieves an art work. I also believe the video was very creative and i must say it looks great. Andrew Moore photography was great becuase it is a way to show the relationship of everyday objects and the importance it has in your life.

i saw the video and its actually pretty easy to make i took a class of 3D design in summer and all you need are images and you can create the sides in 3D using software like 3ds max which you have to pay for it or blender which is a freeware now if you want to incorporate these images into the video you use one called poser and then by using all this you can make a video similar to this one
