When simplicity is the key to the art, composition becomes even more important. Meriol Lehmann has brought this to light. His images of plants are complex through their simplicity. How can one find beauty in the smallest of objects? How is it that we walk by these masterpieces everyday without a blink. Mr. Lehmann's images are proof that we all need to open our eyes and our mind to the beauty that surrounds us everyday.

The simplest things are the most complex ones. This flower or plant that we have here is a simple object that we see every day but we don't give it the value that it needs to be given. This photograph taken by Meriol Lehmann makes the viewers to give value to the smallest and simplest things that we watch every day, because at the end the simple will always be the most complex.
I really thank Mr. Lehmann´s pictures because they help me be aware and appreciate the world I live in more thoroughly. As artwork, however, I feel that they are too ordinary. They depict images that the viewer probably already has seen before. They are also too simple because what they do is just show an irregular shape or a tiny pattern in nature. I believe that there is not much artistic interest in that, and people who like them only do so because they appreciate nature itself. So although I think his works are not so good artistically, they do achieve a very good role of appreciation of nature.
The simplicity of an object is sometimes what caughts the human eye because when things get to crowded you loose interest as you dont know where to see in the large scheme. Even though when you may have a landscape for example there are many things you need to incorporate in a single object that may be zoomed in you can capture the texture, the real colors, its depth, delicacy and emotion that the viewer could not cature when they saw a dozen of the same object. You can also capture nits real form and its odd shape or incorporations, indentations that you could not see when you had to see at the large scheme. As simple as an object can be the emotions that obect may portray may be bigger, Mr. Lehmans shows the world objects that we merely glance and pass on and shows humans that they are passing through art and beuty eveytime they walk through the streets or a garden.
Simpler objects imply to have close-ups’s and this produces a focus in between what is being shown. We don’t focus on every detail that a masterpiece might have because we tend to see it as a whole instead of breaking it up into pieces to analyze each section. I think that Mr. Lehmann wants us as an audience to focus on the composition of simple objects and to understand which elements of art stand out in each image. I like how he develops the simple image and make it look complex at the same time.
I think that Mr.Lehmann´s pictures are trying to tell us is to open our eyes to see the beauty of the world. His artwork shows the small patterns anything might contain that everything contains something beutiful and that you can find it in the simplest objects. He demonstrates this by taking fotographs of flowers which show diffrent patterns that could be sometimes ignored by the straight point of view that this is just a flower. But by looking at this pictures i realized this is not only a flower, its a flower with designs and shapes he combines nature with art and demonstrates that even the most simple things haave art inside them that you just have to look closely.

Having a complex picture isn't always the key of making art. Due to Mr. Lehmann's picture I can now understand how being simple is a great way to express something like this flower. He did not add any color to his picture but yet it is simple and it demonstrate the elegancy of this flower. When Mr. Lehmann said "How can one find beauty in the smalles oobjects?" I said to myself its true, a flower can be little and simple but yet it's a beauty we see every day in our world.
By looking at Mr. Lehmann's pictures, the only thing that comes to mind is the phrase "less is more". A simple oject as a flower can be beautiful and can even become a piece of art. I believe the author wanted the reader to become aware of how beauty is all around us referring to these everyday objects as "masterpieces we walk by each day" and how we can simply ignore and walk through them. By looking at the pictures we see simple concepts such as the flowers become a much more complex image by really focusing on what the flower really consists of, like the lines we see, the different intensities and values of colors, and the play with perspective.
Jose, your point is well taken. Many believe that if the art isn't new it is old and sort of boring. Ordinary rarely is seen as exciting. But can't ordinary taken out of context be extrodinary? Maybe...
As crazy as it seems the insignificant things we may think of, are the most important and useful in life. This flower that Mr. Lehman is showing to us is demonstrating that the simple objects or things that life gives are the ones we should focus on. This type of simple things makes us figurate more about them and makes it more interesting for us. In the minute we change our point of view into more of a detailed viewer, we see how beautiful things are, we recognize that we shouldn´t stereotype things at the first sight. What Mr. Lehman is trying to transmit us is that we should research and focus more on the details that may give us new and incredible things we never imagined of. The simplicity always gives beauty; I think we should also imply this when meeting new people on our daily life.
Simplicity is sometimes a phenomenal thing. A simple paper may look crumpled but in another persons eyes it represents millions of things. This view of simple things is shared by many great artists and it ends up being a beatiful thing to them. This picture by Meriol Lehman is one of many infinite ready to be taken. The flower itself is also beutiful and the perspective it has been taken from is simply breathtaking. Complexivity is not always the answer, and the proof is here.
I think that these picture puts emphasis on he beauty of nature in one simple but elegant picture. One would think these image is fake or a otherworldly creation, just because it looks SO nice and beautiful, because anyone would see this image and would think, "No way this is real", because of its grandeur and at the same time simple, but effective in its purpose.

It is impressive to think that if you have an open mind, and take a moment of your whole life to look at simple objects like Mr. Lehman did, you can really see their true beauty like this plant. Imagine that this is only a plant, and there are a million more objects in the world that we could also concentrate on it and see its true beauty. I say people should be more open minded and really observe the beauty of nature.
I believe a great artist has the capacity to find and capture beauty in all things. Meriol Lehman is truly an artist because he has lots of imagination to see beyond what people would usually take for granted. People rarely take time to look at flowers but Lehman could see the beauty of the flower and made a great piece of art from it. Personally I prefer simplicity because when things are way too complex it loses its beauty and just became confusing and a headache for the eye to see.
Meriol Lehman shows us a beutiful piece of art trough a photograph of a flower. i find this photograph to be eye-catching and beautiful interesting. although its simplicity and few detail, the contrast of color and clearness make it fun to see. i think this is what a good artist should do, to create something ordinary into something different and beautiful. with this artwork i can see beauty in simple and simple in beauty.
Mr. Lehmann's pictures show that anything around us, even the most simplest stuff like plants can be beautiful. I like this idea because we don't usually notice things we commonly see everyday, but when we take a closer look we can see the real beauty. Also this simple stuff can be very complex and the composition becomes very important. For example the flower shown is so simple, but at the same time is very complex because it has a lot of detail. You can clearly see all the details because although it is in black and white, you can differentiate between the brighter and darker parts. Also the dark and somewhat blurred background makes the flower come out. I really like the simpleness of this picture, it looks very nice and you can notice things and details that you don't usually notice. Sometimes the most beautiful things are the simplest ones.
These picture by Mr. Lehmann demonstrate that by something simple and unsignificant like a regular flower, art can be created. I liked the picture alot because it has a good contrast and some patterns created by the flower. These pictures also demonstate us to appreciate nature and the world we live in.
Meriol Lehmann has made a good point with this art work. He can make people see, that out in the world the small things and the simplest ones are the ones that can have more value. In this picture we can see that a small flower can become a amazing, beautiful one. If we add details to art we can come up with something amazing, although its a simple art work, you can make details out stand to make it better.
Simplicity doesn't mean un-detailed, it refers to the uncombined complexity of objects. Mr. Lehmann's artwork demonstrates and supports this idea, and helps us in appreciating everyday like art such as the one in the picture. Flowers, butterflies, and mostly any living organism can classify as an artwork if it is correctly photographed and this is what very little people notice. Thanks Mr. Lehmann for this learning.
The beauty of this picture comes from the repetition and compilation of many simple elements that together combine to create a beautiful image. Mr. Lehmann lets us know about the beauty a simple flower can have and how it's value can be very important whenever it comes to black and white artworks. Thanks to the value it has it has depth and lets us appreciate in a detailed way the piece of artwork.
I believe that Mr. Lehmann is right that even the smallest object can have beauty in them. Mr. Lehmann´s picture shows an ordinary flower but he makes us see beyond and use our imagination to see something beautiful and more complex. The flower is very small and insignificant but Mr. Lehmann sees beyond that and can create art just by whatching a flower. Even the smallest objects can have beauty and meaning in them.
Meriol Lehman shows us that art is not something complicated, that we can actually call art something simple. The contrast of colors he uses in his photographs makes his picture more catchy so someone’s eyes, making it a great piece of art. The focus he has on an specific object makes it appealing too.
Art and its beauty is not always about sketching the perfect object which may cause an impact in someones eye, but its about expressing how you feel and what you feel about something or someone. In this simple artwork Mr.Lehmann just might have as well as any other person who watches carefully the beauty of an object in the nature of our creation, felt some sort of astonishment observing every detail of the real flower, turing it into what he sees in his head and what he feels in his heart into a composition of simplicity and a reflexive but ordinary beauty.
Meriol Lehmann shows complexity and simplicity in a very detailed way. His pictures show what is composition using a simplicity of shapes. In some of his images, some parts are blurry, due to the fact that they are a bit far away, but I rather think that it is made to keep us see the major detail, even made by nature itself. This makes me think that simplicity is essential to make the image look eye-catching, and the more it is used with complex matters, it makes it unique and better. We should consider nature and gaze upon it, as it was for a long time on Earth and keeps beautiful landscapes as also the most single plants which unravel a thrill to viewers that make a glance on these living things. Totally, simplicity that make up complex designs give us art, which has a breadth of ideas made and shown by mankind.
The beauty of something isnt always noticed by people due to the simplicity of its basic shape. Snowflakes, flowers, even blocks contain intricate designs that people fail to notice due to impatientance. The simple things are often far more beautiful then we give credit to due to our contanstly moving eye. This photograph gives value to the simple yet beautiful.

It is very true. The simplest of forms are the most interesting and beautiful. There is definitely beauty all around us, but since we see it everyday we do not notice the beauty in these thing. This photograph shows how the simplest of flowers have so many different details and beautiful colors that we otherwise not stopped to appreciate. Meriol Lehmann is trying to show people how everything in nature is beautiful even if it is in the simple form of a flower. If we would just stop and look at these things, we would see all of the amazing shapes and colors that surround us.
Meriol Lehmann makes small things come in big packages. Simplicity is an important concept in art, it doesn’t mean that it was made fast or is not good, it means that with not many details you can see and experience the beauty within the smallest things you can find. People think that great art comes from painting with huge landscapes or self portraits with a lot of detail. How often do you see people paint a picture or photograph of a non detailed object? Next time you go out look at your surrounding and you’ll realize that even the smallest flower has the beauty of nature to be called art.
This piece makes one realize how we take the simple things for granted. I agree with Ricardo, and believe this photograph enhances beauty perfectly. I wish to see more of Meriol Lehmann's work in the future.
In this photograph, Mr. Lehman shows that the simples things are the most complex ones. In his picture of the flower we can se only a small variety of colors: white, gray, black, etc. This photograph shows the flower that has a nice pattern. In conclusion, Mr. Lehman shows use how a simple photograph of a flower can have a unique complexity.
